A janitor at The Institute, Janey Ray always longed to be one of the scientists she cleaned up after but she just wasn't bright enough. She WAS clever enough to stow away on the ship for space mission nine but she wasn't smart enough to ponder why this was the NINTH mission.

Every single ship prior to this mission had been blown to shreds by cosmic rays! The scientists at the institute fixed the blowing up problem on this trip but the cosmic rays still managed to vaporize the entire crew. Stow away Janey had been shielded from the worst of the rays but they had strangely changed her....

With her new super intellect Janey was able to land the ship on her own. Touching down, she ran straight into the open arms of Uncle Sam, who was all too happy to blackmail her into using her new powers for the government as a super hero. Now, with the aid of her electronic communications case, Janey fights as Codebreaker to keep safe the scientists and the Institute she previously cleaned for.
